Clear Signs Your Home Is Infested By Mice Or Rats

When rodents are allowed to stay in your home, they can cause significant damage even in a few days. After all, they are scavengers and always search for things to chew. Don't be surprised if they chew your clothes, shoes, furniture, insulation, electrical wires, food, and so on to get whatever they require.

For this reason, every property owner must know the signs of a rodent infestation to seek rodent control services before it is too late. Some of these signs will be shared below.

You Can See Some Droppings

One surefire way to know if you have rodents is when you see their droppings in the rooms. Their droppings are black and oval-shaped pellets that resemble rice grains. If the feces are fresh, they'll be moist and dark, while the older ones will look gray, dry, and dusty.

Since mice and rats produce many droppings in a day, there is a high chance of seeing one or a few pellets in areas where they are more active, like the feeding or nesting sites. It's also easier to find dropping in storerooms, cabinets, or any other place you store your food.

Once you see droppings, don't pick them up by hand. Instead, wear gloves and dispose of them in a plastic bag. Also, avoid sweeping or vacuuming because these forms of disturbances cause the release of bacteria or viruses in the pellets.

You Have Seen a Rat or Mouse

Although rodents do their best to hide when they infest your home, you may see one at some point. Whether alive or dead, rodent sighting means that you have a significant issue that needs to be addressed fast since mice and rats breed quickly.

Maybe you woke up at night to drink some water and saw one, or you noticed an awful smell in the house only to find that there is a dead rat. Rats always live in numbers, so seeing one means there are others. The earlier you get professional help, the easier it will be to eliminate them.

There Are Bites

You should consider getting rodent control service when you see bite marks on your walls, food packaging, or other areas. Fresh bites are lighter and turn darker over time. So, if the marks are lighter, you have a continuing infestation. But whether the gnaws are lighter or darker in color, be sure to call the pest professionals. They will help you determine if you're dealing with mice or rats, provide treatment, and share effective prevention measures.
